Does anyone know how to send keystrokes to a process as if done by human intervention? I need to run a simple command that requires operator input. Unfortunately, all my efforts to pipe, redirect from a file, etc... did not work in responding to the required Yes/No prompt from the program.

thanks
joel

We use redirection all the time to simulate keystrokes. Are you sure you have a linefeed (enter key) character after your file responses?

Or an infile. Something like:

Command requiring Yes response input<<EOF
Yes
EOF

i tried a \n with no luck... also tried the redirection but the command i am issuing simply doesnt respond... i did find a tool that works but it seems like one of the standard redirection methods should work

tool is: basically unix scripting tool with a large set of features

thanks
