Hi
What kind of shortcuts you mean ?
For example I defined [tt]Alt[/tt]+[tt]Ctrl[/tt]+[tt]T[/tt] to start a new [tt]xterm[/tt]. Both in IceWM and XFCE. But certainly is possible in other window managers/desktop environments too.

Not sure if is Linux-only or available on Unixes too, but see if you have /etc/inputrc file.
