keyboard shortcut issues 1

Running OS 9.1 with OS hot keys DISABLED as per instruction from Quark web site.

In Quark, F7 is show/hide grid. Alt F7 is baseline grid. From the pulldown menu they work fine. Use keyboard shortcut and Alt F7 does the same as F7 (grid). Keycaps shows it is not a keyboard issue.

Doesn't have a problem in 8.6. Looks like an OS issue.

Anyone?

Upgrade to 9.2.1.

I think it stops this. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

I know it doesn't replicate this problem under 9.2, but surely there must be a way around it without upgrading the OS.

It only appears to do it under OS 9.1 (and maybe 9, I haven't checked). OS8, no problem. 9.2 no problem.

So what exactly did Apple do?

I think this was the reason for 9.2.1 to stop this, maybe someone forgot that these keys where used when creating 9.1.

They changed the way you can use the keys. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

It is a new silver G4 733 with everything on it - I REALLY don't want to drop to OS8...

I'll upgrade to 9.2 - is it a free upgrade?

Yes it is a free upgrade, a new G4 733 Quick Silver should have come with 9.2.1 on the system CDs. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

It didn't. But I have a copy of 9.2 from a !"£$^&* iMac and upgraded. It didn't work so I reinstalled the update and that did the trick.
