In indesign cs2 is there a keyboard shortcut for repeating your last action? e.g. if you add a character style to some selected text, can you select some more text and add the same style via a keyboard shortcut?

yes, only it's a two key combo... (Don't get me started on why I hate it)
Also check out the Eye Dropper tool, it's a very good and fast way to apply repeating styles, bullet list etc.
