During the ashcloud fiasco a member of staff was stuck in South Africa for 3 weeks without a laptop. He bought a Sony Viao Netbook in the end but no longer needs it so I am reconfiguring it for another user.

The problem I have is the Keyboard is a South African layout. Above the enter key is the / key as an example. The problem I have is Shift + 3 gives a # sign I would like this to be £ sign instead. Is there an easy and permanent way to remap this please.

Thanks
Nat

See if there is anything here that you can try.

Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4

KeyTweak Web Page

See if you can adapt these XP notes to what you see in Region and Laguage in the Windows 7 Control Panel?

"Control Panel/ Regional and Languages Options/ Here you make sure the settings adjacent to the Customize Button and the settings for Location are correct.

Proceed to the Languages/ Details/ Here you make sure the Default Input Language is correct.
Under Installed Services make sure the correct Keyboard is selected and in the top position. To add the United Kingdom keyboard if it is not listed use the Add button. This will bring up the Add Input Language window. Here you make sure that the Input Language is correct and that the Keyboard layout/IME is set to the United Kingdom.

You can use the Remove button on the previous page to remove any incorrect keyboards".

Thanks Linney
MS Keyboard Mapper worked a treat! Easy to install and deploy.

Thanks for your help you have a saved a laptop from being thrown accross the room
