i have a problem with both display and keyboard functions on my laptop. problem 1 everytime i connect my laptop to a second display source ie projector or a second monitior, when i open any document ie powerpoint/word/adobe it automatically zooms to the highest magnification the document can go to and is fixed at this magnification. as soon as the external source is disconnected there is no problem.

problem 2 also some of my laptop number keys are the wrong way around ie when i type 9 i get 1 etc, the number problem has always been apparent since i first got the laptop

Any help would be appreciated

1. Do you have special magnification software installed? What software accompanies your graphics driver - and have you tried looking into its settings - it sounds like a settings issue, but without knowing what you're working with its a bit hard to advise. I've seen lots of odd behaviour on second devices connected to laptop (support schools with smartboards) and its usually the settings associated with graphics drivers. Sometimes the settings don't work as advertised - then have to find a compromise (ie, acceptable if not optimum behaviour from both displays).

2. Are the number keys actually on the right way - ie do they go 1-9 from left to right? Where are you based - have you got keyboard setting for wrong country?

Have you tried going to you laptops settings to fix the screen resolution. Depending on your vid card and drivers it will allow you to set your output settings on devices like projectors, dual monitors, etc.

Start the laptop in safe mode.

Does this problem still exist?

continually press F8 while the laptop is starting to access the hidden start menu.

Cheers
