Keyboard problem

I have a problem with key board. My buttons are not set up correctly 'shift 2' gives me @ instead of ". Everything else seems to work oh the @ key gives me " `when with shift. Also when I use " I have to press a key afterwards to make it come up which is annoying as i"t will sometimes come in the wrong place if I have pressed the back space.
Is this normal? can this be fixed?

Sounds like you have installed a US keyboard instead of a UK one?

Check control panels keyboard and regional settings and make sure they are applicable to your country and usage. Remove the wrong one leaving just the right one and restart.
