All,

Just put a fresh Windows 2000 image on a PC that had had Windows 95. It hadn't any any I/O device issues previously, as far as the uder had reported to us.

But now, when the PC boots the keyboard is fully functional for manipulating the CMOS or if I boot to a command prompt from a floppy disk. *But*, if I let it boot up to Windows 2000, neither the keyboard or the mouse are responsive any longer.

Does that make any sense?

I've tried different keyboards and mice, to no effect...
Thanks!

May be obvious/stupid question - but did the system the image was generated from use same sort of keyboard/mouse as the one you're loading it on? (eg, if one is an older AT type motherboard and other is ATX).

Not a stupid question at all, but, no, that's all pretty much covered. We've used that image at least a dozen times on that model of PC in the past month or two and never had a problem...

Good question, though!

Have you tried safe mode? (does keyboard still work at start of boot so you can press F8?)

Another good question, but we have the same problems when we go into safe mode.

I am having the same problem. I have an external Hayes modem. W2K operates okay until I installed PCAnywhere. Then when I boot my keyboard and mouse are functional until I boot to the Windows 2000 screen - then there is nothing - not even a pointer. I can boot to safe mode to no avail.

If I boot into setup, save setup and run in safe mode booting to last good configuration, it will finally pick up the keyboard and mouse. I have had to uninstall PCAnywhere in order for my computer to boot properly.

Possible it will at least points you to the source of the problem:
1. Setup your w2k config on other PC where Keyboard and Mouse are functional. (Hardware config does not make sence)
2. On this newly created (and worked) PC launch sysprep.exe -quiet -pnp -reboot
3. Create an image (directly after restart! Do not allow the PC to start to load a W2k)
4. restore this image on your "problemmed workstation"

Hope it will help you.
