not sure if this even has anything to do with windows, but is there a way to program the keyboard function keys to either launch programs or send text? I know there are programs to do this, but is there a file I can simply alter to do this?

i don't know about the sending text, but you can alter a shortcut to include a hotkey...

pick a shortcut on your desktop... rightclick on it and go to the shortcut tab... click into the shortcut key and set a key bind... although i have had good luck with desktop shortcuts, i have found that if i leave the shortcut in a directory where the file is, the hotkey doesn't seem to work... so, make sure the shortcut is on your desktop, or in your start menu...

remember... don't use F1, or you will go nuts with the help popups that keep showing up... Shane
and now for the impressive abbreviations:
DOA, SOL, AWOL, PEBKAC, id10t, FUBAR
