Just installed a new ECS P4VXASD2+ Motherboard with Celeron 1.7 CPU. On boot up get the following message: "PS2 Keyboard Connected Incorrectly. Press F1 to Continue". Press F1 and system boots up okay and keyboard works. Running WINXP Pro S1. Tried new keyboard with same error. System works but it is a pain. Saw a similar message on google, but no-one replied with an answer. Any help would be appreciated. I also sent a support request to both ECS and Fry's Electronics, but havn't received any reply.

The messages on Google point to BIOS. If youve tried a different keyboard I'd take it back. Frys has a bad reputation for quality control. Don't take anything with a white sticker on it. (returned product)

Thanks. But I waited too long and the warranty has expired. So I need to find a fix.

The ps2 connector on the motherboard is probably shot.
You could go with a usb keyboard instead ,or borrow one to test .

Thanks for your replies. I corrected the error, but I'm not sure how. On whim I booted using an old WIN98 Boot disk and I got not error. Without rebooting under WINXP, I reformated the HDD and reinstalled WINXP Pro. Upon reboot error did not appear. Go figure.
