I am from Brazil and I have an application running well in many machines. In portuguese we use the Code Page 850 in order to have access to all letters needed, like that obtained in HTML with á õ ç etc.

Most of my users are now using XP and I'm facing a problem:
Some of the machines are working OK typing the tilde and 'a' to get 'ã' (equivalent to ã). This occurs both in a DOS prompt line and in the text fields of the program.
Some other machines are doing it well in the DOS prompt but NOT in the text fields of the application. And remember, the .EXE is THE SAME, loaded form a network server.

I have checked all language and keyboard options between the two machines and could not find the difference. (my users are getting angry with this problem)

Does anyone can help me?

Are the machines with the problem, a clean install of XP, or an upgrade from an earlier operating system? Are they from the same Install Image (if applicable)?

Just trying to understand the differences between the machines which work and those which don't.

Test a non-working machine in Safe Mode and see if it comes good? I suppose that depends on whether this program can be run in Safe Mode in a stand-alone situation.

First of all thank you for your response.

My closest customer showing the problem is 60 miles away and we are scheduled to show up there next friday (11/11). I'll check these questions and give a reply as soon as possible. I'll try your other sugestions too.

My only XP is running OK and I did not succeed simulating the problem here.

Thank you again,

Ulisses
