Hi everyone,

I am looking to setup some buttons on an OS40 for a PA to some directors on our Openscape 4000.
The seceretary will have a DDI extn but the directors will have non-DDI ones on OS15's

I am used to doing this kind of setup on ISDX / Realitis / DX systems. On those systems the key lamps / busy lamps give the PA the ability to answer the lines associated with each key along with the ability to call extension directly.

However on the Openscape 4000, I can create the line keys to answer the calls but they dont provide the option for the PA to ring the phone. I tried setting the buttons to DSS keys but they appeared to act the same.

Am I simply selecting the wrong button type in the key system?
Alternatively, would a CHESE system achieve what I am trying to achieve?

Thanks in advance

1) CHESE is not supported in the US )

2) That said... You need a OS60 to have enough buttons.

3) You cannot use Key system because you need all the buttons. Notice there is NO line appearance of the prime line on the phone.

4) You have to have SDAT set as either executive or secretary for a phone.

5) If the CHESE Wizard still exists in the Assitant it is very helpful - I know they were planning to remove it, and then you will have to do it by hand.

6) You have to create the CHESE group and identify the executive and secretary. The secretary can have a backup person as well.

Here is the executive:
Code:
+-----+---------+--------------------------------------------------------------+
| STD | DIGTYP | "SERVICE INFORMATION" KEY LAYOUT |
+-----+---------+--------------------------------------------------------------+
| 71 | OPENST60| "OS60 EXECUTIVE " |

| + - - - - + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -+

Here is the secretary:
Code:

| | | 1 SPKR-FIX 2 HS-FIX 3 MUTE-FIX 4 FIX 5 FWD-FIX |
| | | 6 RLS-FIX 7 CH-FIX 8 MB-FIX 9 HOLD 10 CNCT |

| + - - - - + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -+

Here is the actual CHESE group:
Code:
DIS-CHESE:GR,1;
H500: AMO CHESE STARTED
   +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
   | GROUP NO. : 1 |
   | MULTITONE RING : Y |
   | NOTIFICATION RING : ON3 |
   | |
   | EXEC SECR REP MBOX |
   | 3470 3484 3485 EXEC |
   +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
   | STNNO KEY SLKTYPE SLKTXT |
   | 3470 RNGXFER1 SLKTEXT Get Calls |
   | 3484 RNGXFER1 SLKTEXT Mark Rings |
   | |
   +-------------------------------------------------------------------+

It takes a bit of piddling around to get used to it and how it all works. The only issue I'm really having, and I'm not sure whether that is CHESE related or something else strange, but neither the Exec or the Secr can put calls on Hold. I am supposed to push out V7R2 soon and I'm not sure if that is one of the things that will get better or not.

I have been using it for 12 - 18 months.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the information. I got most of what I wanted to achieve using DSS keys (although it didn't work the first time I tried it).
The only thing is trying to find the right button template for an Openstage 40 Keysystem.
The Unify Trainer material I have says to use button layout 14 for key systems but I cannot program all the buttons as I get an error saying the Key 13 does not exist on an OPTISET.

I have uploaded the Training material I have for Assistant v7 to Tonidio.

I cheesily set up all my templates for the 40's as 41, 42, 43... for number of line keys and higher 40's for deviations, same thing with the 60's. My 50's are ACD templates and I use 128 for my Phantom extensions. You can basically pick templates that are not in use and modify them (including device type) to what you want. Remember the 40 and 60 have a number of buttons that are fixed that shouldn't be changed. It sounds like you picked an Optiset template to work with instead of an Openstage 40 one. I would just pick a different one that works - there is no standard for button tables other than how you decide you want to do it for you.

It sounds like you're new to the scene (training). Note with DSS the guys by default will function as "God buttons" - that meaning if you press the key when idle it will call that extension and it will not honor any forwarding or do not disturb. If you want to honor that you need to set the option on the phone for "DSS without feature override" and it will make them behave according to the rules. Also note that as far as I have been able to find out, even consulting with top gurus, they have not implemented the "DSS Alert" function on the 4000 so you will not be notified of a call ringing in on that line unless you happen to be looking at the phone and see the light flashing. ** If you do find a way to make it triple beep or something when a call comes in on a DSS station I would love to know how you did it! **

Have fun!

Amend the above command to change ringtypes for DSS calls. Use Comwin edit

I have a ring type set for DSS calls - it just doesn't do it. Is there a master switch somewhere for that? There used to be, but I am told it no longer functions that way.
