I'm new to avaya but I've play with the configuration via phone on ext 10 and 11.

I have 5 lines. What I would like to do for incoming call is if line 1 line busy automatically go to line 2. If line 2 is busy the goto line 3 and so on. If no answer after xx times, goto voice mail.

My question is do I need Key or Hybrid mode? I'm currently setup as key mode. If line 1 is busy I get a busy signal. Appreciate any help.

The hunt group is controlled by your phone company not the phone system. they need to set this up for you

Kwing, I called the CO and they are putting my lines in a hunt group. Thanks for your help.

Just as an aside, the configuration you described is key mode. Basically all phones on all lines - the 'you have a call on line i' is a traditional key system setup. Hybrid, or at least the way I was taught, is a system that can be set up either as a key system or a PBX - think a hotel where you dial 9 to make an outside call. These distinctions date back to days when phone systems had to utilize an FCC registration number (they still have them, but no one really cares...) and the type of system in many cases dictated the cost of the trunk lines. And we thought things were complicated then...
