I recently upgraded a Legend to Magix and added voicemail. System is in Key mode, w/ Trunks 801, 802, and 803 assigned to VM, 804 setup on all phones as “No-Ring” (line is shared w/ a fax machine and can be used to dial out on), and 805 which is setup to ring in to phones immediately. The problem is that whenever anyone places or takes a call -which will normally be on 801, 802, or 803 - 804 will flash on all phones.

At no time other than when a fax comes in should the light associated with 804 show any activity. It doesn’t really hinder operation, but it is making the customer unhappy, and unfortunately I am not sure how to resolve the problem. Does this sound like a programming issue?

Any ideas appreciated.

I would start with doing an inspect and seeing for sure that 804 is, in fact, 804.

After that, unplug 804 from the system and see how things act.

What type of phones are you using on the Magix....TDL or ETR?

OK - I'll have customer unplug from 804 and have them monitor things for a while.

Customer only has 10 extensions, and via Cntr-Prg I've gone into all ext's and unassigned and assigned 804. When I upgraded the switch, I also setup a new dial-plan.

Would you inspect extensions->lines trunks for each extension?

I upgraded them from a Legend, which was a R2, and now they're on Magix 3.0 - and they're still using the old MLX10D's

Maybe I should try removing Line 804 from SysProgramming-->lines/trunks.

make sure you removed the lines from the vm ports. when you set up the system as squared the lines appear on all exts. also go into central prog. and make sure line select for vm ports is set to pick intercom extension only.

There are no lines assigned to the VM ports. However, I did find an extension that is default numbered/not used that had lines 801-808 assigned to it. These have been removed.

In central programming, the VM ports show this on buttons 1 and two:
2) Ext Ring -I
1) Ext Ring -I

Just called the customer - Line 804 has stopped flashing. The solution was to go into all extensions, including VM ext's., Lines/Trunks, and remove lines that are not needed.

Thanks for everyone's help.
