I am currenty running an Access 2000 database under a multiuser environment via Citrix Metaframe and am experiencing odd behavior with a couple of my forms.

During the data entry process in these forms the primary key value will change. This problem seems to come up randomly but it is a severe problem.

I also have had reports from data entry personnel that during entry of a new record that some of the blank fields will fill with erroneous data once tabbed to on the form.

I can email the forms if this would help.

I am looking for any ideas as to what is the cause or solution of these strange occurrances.

If you are using bound forms you should never get this behavior.

If your forms are unbound, make sure your underlying data structure is being reset, especialy when you are adding new records. Robert Berman

Thank you very much for your reply --

I am using forms bound to a query which uses multiple tables as its source. I find the behavior puzzling too -- could it be an issue with network packet loss or the Citrix Metraframe server instead of Access?

I’ve heard nothing unfavorable about Citrix and Access. In fact, the opposite is true. It’s a very good system for Access.

The behavior you are having is not caused by Access. I would see every user having a problem and check the NICs in their PC’s. if they are over a year old or even slightly suspect, replace them with top of the line NICS.. Access will roll over dead real fast when confronted with a failing NIC.
