I have created a paragraph style and set the kerning to be "metric" for a specific font. I create a paragraph and then manually adjust the kerning for a few words, I change my mind and undo. When I select the entire paragraph and look in the character palette my kerning is set to be 0 and trying to reapply the style doesn't change it back to metrics. Is this a bug? Or am I stripping out paragraphy style attributes by changing the kerning?

The kerning when using Metrics IS zero...that's what the other values are based on. If you have type with Metrics for kerning, each kerning pair will have kerning of zero. If you set your kerning to Optical, each kerning pair will have a different value amount, based on the letters themselves.

Hope that helps.

That makes a little bit of sense. But when I select the paragraph and manually change it in the character palette from "0" to "metrics" the kerning changes to look more like what I want it to look like. I'm just not sure why it says "metrics" in the paragraph style but "0" in the paragraph palette.
