I am working on a 200 mhz machine w/64mb RAM, win98se and the @home IP software. Whenever I log off the internet I get an windows error message dialog box which states: IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff87ede. Said dialog can only be cleared by restarting the machine. It is such a pain. Since upgrading from win95 to win98 it has been one thing or another. someone suggested wiping the hard drive and starting from scratch - but I need the machine daily for work. Any ideas?

I wish I could help you on this one, but I can't...<br>I can give you moral support, because I suffer the same problems on my home PC.<br><br>I have asked the same question here myself, but never got a reply that helped...<br><br>Sorry... <p>ahdkaw<br><a href=mailto:ahdkaw@sensibilium.com>ahdkaw@sensibilium.com</a><br><a href= you do visit my sites - be warned! I found some information about a week ago regarding thei, the first thing they suggest is to completely uninstall the application causing the error, looks like Internet Explorer in your case.&nbsp;&nbsp; After uninstalling, reinstall the application again, IE 5.5 is available from Microsofts web page if thats what you choose to use.&nbsp;&nbsp; If that doesn't work, there are a few additional suggestions.&nbsp;&nbsp; If all else fails, the I'd look into reloading the system, personal opinion there of course.&nbsp;&nbsp;Go to this website for more information on the error and see if it helps any...there is alot of information available at this site regarding Win98 problems.&nbsp;&nbsp;Good luck...<br><A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> <p> <br><a href=mailto: pcheather@home.net> pcheather@home.net</a><br><a href= > </a><br>

Hello. I suggest going to microsoft and downloading all the win98se updates available. ie 5.5 and all related ie 5.5 web tools and accessories. If this doesnt work make sure you have updated your modem,mother-board and bios updates for your particular models. Last but not least re-installing win98se over your current installation should definitrly fix your problem without losing any important personal data.&nbsp;&nbsp;Regards, David

Hello.
the kernel32 page fault error is like a new feature to windows ME, I have had 4 completely different systems (with two different copies of win ME) come up with the kernel32 page fault error.
The errors never came up running win 95, 98, NT4 etc...(which they've all had running once upon a time)
1stly. I would not recomend you to get Windows ME until the 2nd version come out!
2ndly. I put some half dead ram in a working machine with win98, and it came up with all sorts of kernel32 errors, so maybe you'ld like to try that :)

wait, the last thing a said, i mean that your ram could be faulty, try some new stuff in yer machine...

I recently installed Windows Me. IE 5.5 gives me a page fault error in kernel32.dll and when i log on to the internet through AOL it has to dial twice before i get connected. None of these were happening in Windows 98. What can i do?

I read this on Chris Pirillo's Lockergnome site..........
When was the last time you deleted your swap file? If you're running into KERNEL32.DLL errors, consider dropping into MS-DOS mode and deleting it (WIN386.SWP) from the command prompt. This will effectively clean out previously swapped code which may have been causing system
instability. Windows will create a new swap file automatically before its next session.
be careful. backup first, and delete (WIN386.SWP) NOT KERNEL32.DLL............Jesso

I've had the kernel32.dll problem for a good few weeks now. I've tried absolutely everything from every website and technical help sites. But to no avail. Windows 98 was not made to play with kernel32.dll and internet explorer 5.x

My personal solution is so simple. Stop the errors completely and download/install Netscape.
