folks, recompiling the kernel on rh-7.2 so i can get framebuffer to work. i'm using ext3 for the filesystem and grub for the bootloader. whenever i compile the new kernel, it mounts /boot ok (on seperate partition), but gags when it tries to mount any other partitions. also. i've compared my config vs. rh default config and can't find any difference. i've compiled countless kernels, but never gotten one to work on a box using ext3. ext3 and ext2 are both compiled into the kernel. help is appreciated

You can upgrade your linux 7.2 kernel via internet.
You need to connect to RedHat Network.
Before you can do this. You need to register your Linux server to RedHat network.
I already tried to upgrade my linux 7.3 kernel from redhat network. And I done it succesfully.
Good Luck

Thanks. I always roll my own kernels because i'm usually trying new features out. currently it's watching tv on the console using the framebuffer (got that working) and trying to get multihead console support(still a problem), so just downloading a kernel from RH is an option i won't explore. some things you just have to build yourself ;-)
