Major problem with my home computer...it boots up, everthing seems to work
but the hour glass never goes away then I get:

Kernal32 caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE @
0003:00003987

it then dies.

Should I just shoot it?

anyone have a clue as how to fix this?

thanks in advance

win95 or win98?
Hunting:
I see reference to a kernel32 update for win95.

I also saw reference to video settings as a possible cause for some user.exe related errors. Dont know if this would make any difference or not, you could try booting into safe mode and reducing destop video setting to 800x600 if you have it set higher, and see if that would make a difference.
