Im running Windows 2000 Professional on a stand-alone PC. I have Kerio Personal Firewall Free and it does not want to log traffic. I want it to log every traffic that coming in and out but its not doing that for some reason.

I read the help topic and I still dont get it. I also went to and test it, all failed. I do not know whats going on.

Please help.

sorry, i have to ask, did you set logging (where shall it save, file or system log)?
it wont log all traffic (whatfor do you need that, the logs would get enormous), only suspiciouse packets / packets adressed to unopenned ports.
how do you connect to inet (router/modem...)?

But the problem is, I went that it failed the scan for common ports at where you could test your if you have open ports or not.

I have System Log unchecked and Save to file log checked on all three priorities. I want it to log all traffic on the Lo Viewer screen not on a separate log text file.

I had Zone Alarm and it logged fine like every minute or 30 seconds esp. access to port 445. How could I do this with Kerio? I have to re-insall Kerio but from there could someone explain how could I set this up?

The help topics really are bad to be honest. Its not very specific. This is my last resort. And plus, I dont want to give up on a good firewall

I use Dial-Up. Is REALLY REALLY necessary to have a software firewall for dial-up on Windows 2000 Professional? I got rid of the File and Print sharing and such too since Im on a standalone PC.

YES, as that is how the MSBlaster got in, even on dial!

<big sigh>
Please see my own thoughts of what happens between 12 and 20 minutes for new computers trying just to get windows updates: thread779-736873

I was last week at a Microsoft event discussing Service Pack 2, and one key feature is that the firewall kicks in prior to logon for any user. So this guy stands up and asks why is this necessary? From a very senior tech audience, "you idiot" was the nicest thing said to the guy from the audience.
