I have a client who wants the usual enquiry form on their site with a 'submit' button that goes to their email - of which I am able to do.

The problem is they want to keep track of all these enquiries, mainly to check that they have been replied to.

How involved is this to do, and where do I start - I have little programming knowledge.

Thanks in advance

In what way does the email get sent to your client?

Surely it's a matter of the client managing the email within their mail client? That's the easy way.

The other option being to log all mail into a database of some kind and to be doubly sure, build some kind of online response mechanism for your client to use.

The client is after more than managing their email. They would like something like 'a tick' next to the ones replied to. So some sort of db I would say. How do you go about that, and wouldnt they then need security login etc?

thanks

This is the way I would do it, assuming the client was willing to pay for it. [smile] You just send the client a copy of the details with a link to the script so that they can reply to it. When they reply, flag the e-mail as sent in the database.

Hope this helps

In my mail client (Outlook) when I reply to a message the icon next to the message changes to show it has been replied to.

But the database option is better if more expensive.
There may be an 'off the peg' solution available depending on the exact requirements.

one easy answer would be to use an email server with IMAP capabilities Kerio MailServer for instance. The message never leave the server and can be accessible by several clients.
The server could be run in-house and download from the clients POP servers.

Thanks heaps for everyones input. From your advice I think the client should just monitor their email. If they want db I like idea from Wullie.
