We have a copy of our live data that we rename and use for testing in our ERP system. What I would like to do is update the test data nightly, currently if we want an fresh updated test DB we copy the live one, what would be the best way to keep the testing DB updated?

Sorry if this is not the right forum for this, but I'm pretty much a novice with the SQL server and still trying to get my legs under me...

Your best bet will be to do a full backup and restore as needed.

forum962 or forum183 are the other main SQL Server forums.
