Hi,

I have a sheet that I have formatted to perfection in one of my sheets in Excel.

I want to be able to keep all the formatting (ie row/column heights) when I copy and paste to another sheet, but this is not happening.

Is there a way that I can do this automatically?

Thanks,
Maisie

Hi,

There are different formats: Cell formats, Row formats, Column formats.

When you copy CELLS, you can also paste the CELL formats.

When you copy ROWS, you can also paste the ROW formats.

And when you copy COLUMNS, you can also paste the COLUMN formats.

What are you trying to do?

Hit Ctrl-A before you copy.

Ctr+a only works IF you are copying all the cells on the sheet to A1 on another sheet.

Hi,

As Skip says to do what you want you will have to have three steps:

1. Copy the whole Rows the data is on, and then on the new sheet use Paste Special and paste the Formatting.

2. Repeat the above, but for the whole Columns in place of the Rows, and paste the formatting.

3. Copy and Paste your data and all should be ok.

Note: Column and Row characteristics are only copied when you copy whole Columns or Rows. Have you thought about using Edit, Move or Copy Sheet, which lets you copy a whole sheet.

Good Luck!
