I need to keep some private data private on a shared computer where others will have the user ID and PW to my computer account (WinXP Pro).

I'm using a USB flash drive with U3 support to run Thunderbird and Firefox from the flash drive for email and web. But, I'd like to be able to access my Palm Desktop from that Flash Drive and be able to sync to it. Is that possible? If so, how do I go about setting that up?

Do I simply install the Palm Desktop on the computer, but, somehow point it to the Flash Drive for the data files? Or, can I install the software itself on the Flash Drive, too?

Depends on the flash drive. Data will probably remain on the system. You can stipulate a password for your palm deaktop and most but not all flash drives have a safe folder with password encryption. You can set sharing to "do not share" on the computer, which means the drive should be invisible to other users.

There are various ways to set up your programs to keep data..address books, attachment files, etc..in other folders.

You can set up sync for palm when you install the software on the flass drive. From what I understand not all flah drives allow programs. Also remember that when you install Thunderbird/Firefox on your flash on one machine, it will not be entered into the registry of any other machine. I find this is not a problem with Eudora, but you will just have to fiddle.
