This may sound stupid but here goes anyway.

If you have a stop action on a frame, does the movie still keep loading after that or does the stop action actually stop the whole process....?

I know, stupid but I have to ask......:cool: funkymonk B-)

the movie stops loading...it stops everything up until and including that frame.

ex. if i have 2 scenes and have a button to jump to the scene2, unless i put a stop action on the last frame of the 1st scene...the movie will jump to scene2 right after scene 1 is displayed.

nsdg i think he means when using a preloader, is that right rod?.

if so i would assume that a stop action in say frame "50" of a "100" frame movie would not stop the preloader from calculating it's script..which would be calculating

if (_root.getBytesLoaded() == _root.getBytesTotal()) {
_root.gotoAndStop("Scene 1", "frame");

or something like that..so i don't think that a stop action will interfere in that..if i am misunderstanding your post then i am sorry..

OK, so maybe not that stupid a question then, I'll give an explanation as to how I'm setting up this movie, it's basicaly a loaded movie that holds all my art etc.

The main timeline loads all frames upto and including frame 59 (which will load the window and navigation etc.) then play upto and stop on frame 60.

frame 60 holds all my movie clips that contain my art that are each in their own movie clips. These have blank first frames with stop actions on them.

What I am unsure about is that will these clips continue loading even though they have stop actions on them and on the frame in the main timeline holding them? Basicly, does the stop action just stop the movie playing or does it stop the load procces too?

It just stops the movie playing Rod - the .swf file will stream until it's fully loaded regardless of whether your movie is running or not.

Cheers wangbar, I though it would but I've learnt to not just assume things with flash (and the web), best to ask if your not sure.

Thanx again..... funkymonk B-)
