hey guys
this is the weirdest problem I have ever dealt with, I have 5 web servers running linux red hat 6.2, for some weird reason my machines keep loosing their default gateway and I have to manually add the static route using the route command, if I dont add the route when it loose it, the machine freezes and I get nothing on the console. So basically I have to reboot the machine and add the default route manually, and the funny thing is its only happening to the web servers. They connect to an alteon load balancing device, first I thought it was the alteon who is doing it so I connected them to a cisco switch but I still experienced the problem, has anyone dealt with this? please help if you know anything about this.
I have added the default route to every config file I can find, I am kinda new to linux, I have been doing mostly solaris in past.

When are you loosing the route?

Does it just happen when you boot.
OR at some random interval ?

its just happenning randomly, and when machine just freezes. After the reboot it cant talk out of the lan so I manually have to add the route. I have /etc/static-routes configured as well.
I tried a different setup today, basically took the machines out of the alteon and connected them directly to the swtich. Its been 4 hours I havnt seen it yet. we'll see if it stays that way.
