I am running ISA server on Win2k server. For testing purposes, I am running IE on a separate win2k server. I set IE to use server 192.168.0.1 port 8080 which is the ISA server. Whenever I try to access anything on the internet, I get a username, password, Domain name prompt. After I enter the correct information (and I've tried a couple different users), the prompt comes right back up again. I get three tries until IE posts the "page cannot be displayed" page.

1) How can I get rid of the authentication prompt? I am already authenticated by win2k when I log into the domain on the win2k server with IE.

2) Why isn't IE or ISA recognizing the credentials I supply as valid? Maybe this is why I get the prompt in the first place.

Thank you for any hints!

It sounds like you haven't set up any site and content rules or a protocol rule. If both are not setup you cannot get to the internet. By default ISA does NOT allow access through on any port. You must tell ISA explicitly what to and which ports to allow.

My situation has improved slightly since last time. IE still prompts me first time I open it for uname, pwd, and domain name. The settings that I apply in ISA appear to be enforced accurately now!

The thing is, I wish there was some way that ISA could tell who I am right away and not give the authentication prompt. In my mind, once I logon to the domain when I log into windows, I am already authenticated. For example, if I access a protected network share, windows explorer does not throw a credentials window at me. It just says access denied. Is there any way I can get IE to understand this as well?
