I want to unplug a phone and still be able to transfer calls to the ext and let it drop into the voicemail. However when i unplug the set, it returns the inactive list.

I have BCM50 2.0

can someone help?

You cannot transfer a call to an inactive DN. You need to use F986 to transfer into the mailbox.

You could try setting the DN into keep-alive Y, but I'm unsure if that works on a TDM set.

I belive keep alive is for softphones/IP phones only.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

You could dedicate and old phone for that, let say m7324, in the equipment room with ringing volume to set to minimum
and assign "answer dn" of the phones that are unplug, it should work.

Our if it's DID, assign the Target line to Old phone and have it appear on the phone.

My recommendation is to program a hunt group with that DN. Assign the target line to it and have it overflow to VM. Assign the HG to the set. This method will allow internal and external call dial that extension and if no one picks up (also apply if the phone is unplugged), it will roll to VM.

Does the hunt group need to be appear on a working phone? thanks so much. been trying to figure a good way to do this. In the past I've registered IP phones to keep alive for this purpose.

No the phone does not have to be in service. Just make it a member of the Hunt Group and set the hunt group for IF BUSY / Que. Then set the overflow to voice mail.
