What is the best setup for a backup server with the shortest downtime?

Is nortels option the best case or would an identical server with daily backups restored to it be faster?

I get the feeling the notel option (rep server?) would take some time to be brought online, there is no real live standby mode?

Thanks

wichie

We have a CC6 on a dell right now.

Your feeling regardings rep server is right.
By our experience it takes about 30 minutes to put standby server to the active status. We need to shutdown the active server, to change active and standby servers CLAN IP addresses and host names, to provide ELAN and MMail serial connection cabling job, then some restart....
On the other hand with rep server solution you have still your database updated.
Backup and restore procedure on our servers takes about 3 hours. But if you are happy with several hours old database (part of history reports missing, latest admin changes are missing ...) then identical server with daily backups restored is faster and cheaper solution.
