Can you boot in safe mode (& see what's going on)? - Press F8 when XP starts booting.

I just did it let me in I install the new driver but still the same results..???

Hey Guys, I've been repairing a KDS Valiant 6380iPTD which was upgraded to Windows XP and had the same problem. After fighting with it, I was completely unsucessful in finding XP drivers for the video card.
Windows does boot normally with the exception of the malfunctioning video driver, this is why you still hear the windows logon sounds.
I am in the process of restoring the laptop to windows ME, but am still experiencing trouble with the video drivers. I've been using the drivers for ME at

If you're wondering, the drivers for XP are here:

You might have some success in upgrading the BIOS, if you're
not at the most recent version. Sorry I don't have a
better answer for you.

Please let me know if you've had better luck

(knoppix has no problem detecting the display)

One of the links above points to a Trident driver labeled as a KDS driver. There is a known issue with some of the Trident drivers, see
Also, is there any chance they have bundled the wrong driver for this machine? What does knoppix say the video card is? Perhaps the chipset manufacturer has something a bit more current than KDS.
