KDS for tapas style restaurants

Is it possible to display individual items rather than consolidated tickets on the expo display?

I work in a Japanese restaurant where multiple items hit the table as they are prepared. The average table has over 12 items hit the table at different times. I'd like to bump individual items rather than entire tickets.

I know MICROS can print individual tickets per item. Can KDS do the same?

Are you using Micros KDS? If you are try the "Print Dopplebon Chit" setting in order devices. I have never used it but the descriptor says it does what you are asking.

Hi thanks for the reply.

I am using micros kds. In the kds options screen the print dopplebon chit option is greyed out and won't let me select it. I can select it in the normal POS settings but not the kds.

Mine is not greyed out so there must be another option bit overriding this. I'll look into it for you later tonight.

I wont be able to test til later but have you tried the "Single item per sub order" on the KDS options screen? Again not something I have worked with before.

I will inquire why the setting is not available. I'm not quite sure what single item per sub order is about. I will test today (Kuwait time) and let you know.

The "single item per suborder" option has effectively split the items up on the screen. The issue I am having now is when select and bump a single item it clears all the items associated with that table. Is there a way to only bump that single item?

Played with the dopplebon chit item this morning - it appears it is greyed out on the KDS devices themselves but available on the printers on my test system.

Maybe using "bump marked items" with "single item per suborder" will enable single item bumping?

We had the same request and went all the way to Micros Corporate. KDS was not design for Tapaz style dinning (i.e. Server orders 10 dishes but they all come at different time) but more for Appetizer/Entrée/Dessert style of dinning (where all appetizer come together followed by entrees etc. On the Expo KDS you can only bump a complete ticket (i.e. the runner chit will only print the complete ticket.) You can bump single item on the expo screen but nothing will print until the complete ticket is bumped.
Until Micros decide to address Tapaz style dinning, KDS is of not use to such dinning style.
