under windows, install cygwin:

http://cygwin.com

install XFree86 under cygwin and KDE at the same last. So you will be able to study Linux without shut down windows. There also is a project of porting KDE under windows which will be an alternative of Windows Explorer. John Fill

Just think... if things keep going this way, we will eventually be able to run any application on any OS. (can't wait)

I think KDE is only a hair's width away from being a corporated desktop replacement for Windows, and I am already planning to help certain IT consultants make that recommendation to their customers.
