I came accross the Kakworm virus on a system I was doing some work on. I downloaded and ran a removal utility from Norton(Symantec) but I am not convinced that it removed it, it did say it did and subsequent runnings have say the system is not infected but it is still listed in the autoexec file and the modem automatically connects every 15 min even though nothing is running (does Kakworm even cause this?). Any suggestions?

Kakworm isn't listed as causing the modem problems. If file KAK.HTA doesn't exist on the machine then the clean program cleared it. You can remove the reference in autoexec.bat.
You can also get further info from links in the pchardware FAQ section. Ed Fair
