K175 As A Door Phone?

Hi,

Basically, I have a customer that wants to use K175 phones as a door/video phone. They want a visitor to press any button or one button on the screen to call the receptionist. Is this something that can be done? Also, How can I disable the visitor from accessing any other app/settings on that phone?

pretty shitty door phone.

Get a better one. I looked at Grandstream GDS3705 and it works nice. Has also a dialpad on it so you can either dial an extension or just press the call button and dial a pre-determined number.
The K175 is a lousy excuse of a phone.

I agree with you both. Customer wants 2 way video call. So I will look for another solution I guess!

As an additional note on the above from Nortel4Ever - our company set one of these up at a school for the deaf and it called a K175 at reception with two-way video so they could use ASL.

It did work quite well.

to answer the question though you need to configure the extn as a Hotline (Not easy to find in the help files anymore :-( )

in the user short-codes add

sc: ?d
TN <reception group>
feature DialExtn

you may want to add other short-codes incase the visitor tries to use the keypad without lifting the handset
allso ensure outgoing call bar is enabled.

The customer wants something that can sit on a stand. Its a small lobby and they don’t want to put it on walls.

I have found that this can be done on the K179 installation manual (April 2020). Chapter 12: Hot dialing configuration. Which can be made by adding special settings to 46xxsettings or 46xxspecial files.
