Hi,

I'm trying to install SYBASE 12.5.2 on my Linux RedHat 4 server. Here is my version of java:

java version "1.4.2"
gcj (GCC) 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-3)

When doing the install I get this error:

Errors occurred during the installation.
- JVM not found

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance. Oh..I'm kinda new to this so if you can be as detailed as possible that would be great.

Is java in the path, ie, if you open a shell and type java - version, what happens?

Cheers,
Dian

I logged in as sybase and typed in java -version. See below:

[sybase@jaguar ~]$ java -version
java version "1.4.2"
gcj (GCC) 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-3)

Did you try to install the product as the same user? Which java version does the software require? Did you try installing Sun's version?

Cheers,
Dian

The java version game as a package with Red Hat 4. You have to install it as root.

Weird thing is I've already installed sybase on Red Hat 4, with the same version of java. No error on that install.
