Just wondering if it's possible to dial an internal DN directly without having to program the number to a button first? Some way to dial it directly like you dial an outside number...

(Meridian Northern Telecom M8X24-DS system, as before)

If I understand right, you need to push intercom button and dial extension number.

Are you talking about picking up the receiver and the dials a number, then yes use hot line programming.

Yes, stars for everyone's patience...
I don't work in the front office so I *use* the phones VERY little so I've never even pushed the intercom button. LOL
Reason for my question is this: We have sort of a ghost phone in the network-
It seems you cannot call it (and talk to anyone) nor call from it; just dead silence; LCD screen says "Need handsfree". I just went and made some changes in the setup for that phone (disabled handsfree stuff) but it still says "Need handfree" for some reason. Perhaps the handset is bad?
I also tried logging into the system from that phone and it said "Access denied" so there does seem to be some sort of restriction on it of some sort... Looking for advice. More stars anyone? LOL

HF required. You will probably find the handset is plugged into the headset port.

Nope, the handset is plugged into the handset jack- nothing is plugged into the handsfree jack.
The phone is M7208. Not sure if it has the 3 soft keys or not? My mind is fuzzy as it's early I guess. LOL

The M7208 phone won't work on the larger Norstar's for administration. I only known it to work on the original compact 6+16 systems.

There is no such thing as a handsfree jack.

Under the phone you will see these 3 jacks:
Line Headset Handset

Make sure the handset is not plugged into the middle jack (headset).

Soft keys are what you see under the display on the larger phones.

My guess is that handsfree is disabled for this set in software.

It seemed to be the base went bad- could not hear any ring, could not hear anyone on the other end nor could they hear you. Changed handsets and the base and it fixed the problem Thanks anyway guys.
