Why will InDesign highlight links when you need to update them and you locate the proper folder, and Illustrator will not? It would seem to me that this is a good feature that would benefit Illustrator. What exactly is Adobe's mindset in designing their software when they won't add these features universally? One would think that for the ridiculous cost of these programs, they'd be thought out better. Just my opinion. I just screwed up a job because of this and wanted to vent. Thanks.

The flaw in your vent is that you believe there is a mindset. It could be easily argued no mindset exists. Adobe's products are from different teams and with different origins. Take Muse for example. Adobe markets it to be as familiar as InDesign but it is built on AIR, a totally different development framework than what drives InDesign.

Your complaint could have been stated a decade ago and it will sadly be made again a decade ahead. Don't hold your breath, waiting on improvement.
