Haven't posted here in a while - I landed a big customer who uses Commerce Center (Prophet 21) and haven't done much Macola support in a while - just wondering, did Exact ever get the ES version off the ground?

Good to have you back.

ES is up and there are a couple of hundred sites using it, but the data conversion from 7.6x to ES still has problems. If you have anything more specific, let me know.

My two cents - anyone who uses ES for any length of time is quickly going to realize that it is comprised of two different products (Globe and revamped Progression). Just some of the inconsistencies between the two are;

No Flexibility/Screen Designer in Financials.
No Notes functionality in Financials.
Weird table/database structure in Financials (who in their right mind designs a database where field values are centered in the field? Customer numbers, order numbers etc. are formatted this way).

Unless a prospect is looking at e-Synergy first, with an ERP requirement second, I'd lean towards selling and implementing Progression. They can always upgrade to ES later..

Again, just my two cents...

Actually, I wasn't stopping by to get any support info DG, I've really pretty much stopped supporting Macola - of the the two major clients I had on it, one switched to some home made Access thing and the other converted to GP. Right now I've started supporting a product very similiar to Macola called "Commerce Center" from a company called Prophet 21. I'd never heard of it until now, but it seems to be popular with big distributors. Has anyone used it?

Prophet 21 is a good package. In fact I have lost a couple of deals to them and I have considered supporting this package as well.

I'm pretty impressed with it. Seems like Macola on steriods.

At Exact EPIC I beleive they listed approx. 400 sites own ES and about 135 are currently live.
I would agree with most of what crystalreporting stated, and add that there are still fundamental things that are buggy to date. With all of that, ES does have some really compelling things going for it. The GL data contains full detail from posting packages. I originally thought that the Financials was something to skip in a sales demo, now it we use it as a center point. In an account like AR in the GL key in a customer# and see that customers AR balance. Or print financials and specify a customer or item, and see the impact for that one object on your business. Pretty cool and not many other packages go that deep. Then throw e-Synergy in, and ES looks pretty good.
