Greetings,

I have an image with 11 balls or circles. Previously, I had created an image map in dreamweaver, but now I need to make it so each ball, when I rollover it, changes color.

I have the image, and I have a smaller img which is the ball in a lighter shade. Since I can't break the image up, I'm wondering what is the best way to accomplish this effect.

right now i created 11 different images, which is of course, not ideal, since the load time breaks up the effect.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

You can see what I have so far here:

Thanks for the help!

This is an abbreviated step by step; you can get the tutorial on IMAGE SWAPPING this from within FW:

Put one set of images on one layer and one frame.
Create a new frame.
Copy all your images together to the other frame, creating an exact duplicate in SAME LOCATION.
Create your new effects on the NEW frame. (ie colour changes)

On frame ONE, apply slices by
right clicking the images and selecting "INSERT RECTANGULAR SLICE".

On the web layer, slice will show up with a little icon in center. Click that icon. CHOOSE ADD SWAP IMAGE BEHAVIOUR.
The next box will show you your images that you put on FRAME TWO, voila!
Choose the corresponding image that matches FRAME ONE to FRAME TWO. You're done, test it (f12) and move on to the next element, repeat steps for each one.

You can always go back and change your EFFECTS too, just don't MOVE the elements or the swapping will be flooey.

On file export, all will be exported.
If you are using FW8, use the export options that keep the JS and CSS within your HTML doc, just my prefernce - easier to edit later.

We used this technique for all menus and drop downs rather than creating symbols; it's MUCH easier to make changes and updates.

I LOVE the new FW Studio 8, wa-hoo.
