I just got Visual WEB Dev 2010 express and when I try to open site I get an error saying Front page extensions is not installed?
I called them and they don't support it anymore. I did not know Visual Studio used it, or is this tossing up that error and is looking for something else?

Does anyone use Network Solutions as a host and use Visual anything to make a site there? I think they are stuck in .NET 2. I used to use Front Page 2002, but had financial issues last fall and told them to cancel the site. when I got back on my feet I noticed FP ext's were gone, called and found out why, no longer supported. They then said to use VS but now that does not work either. now they say use Dreamweaver???? I want to learn VS 2010 I have Pro and Express and need to do VB.NET, ASP.NET and all the new stuff etc but need a site I can work with. been doing BASIC programing since 1984 and now it seems I can't do anything in it anymore. Any ideas? I know I can create a local host but I want to show off my talents or lack there of on the WEB? not localhost.

TIA

front page and asp.net are nothing a like. so if you are trying to load/import your front page website into VS it won't work. I would assume you need to redesign the site using asp.net (webforms or an mvc framework).

typically you don't develop remotely. I'm not even sure you can. keep the development files local, design/code the web application. then compile and deploy to a server.

final note: local development is different than your production environment. It's imperative you have a testing environment similar to production so you can test for bugs that may not show up when debugging on your local workstation.
