Looking for a little info.

I just found that had an ITG card in storage and a few i2004 phones. I'm curious to know how easy it would be to set these up without actually having a vendor come out. Also could I be missing anything from the mix?

The card is ITG-P, NTVQ55AA, Rlse 9 (I have not put it in a slot yet to check its status).

The phones are i2004's, Rlse 4.

All of this stuff was brand new just sitting in boxes. Looks like one of the past telecom folks here bought it as a test app and never tried it.

There was also a Business Policy 2000 switch, but it just looks like it a switch with Qos which I could use a newer cisco for.

Looking for input.

IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT VOIP THE FIRST THING YOU WILL NEED IS OTM IF YOU HAVE OTM THEN YOU CAN START

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

I do have OTM and it is it working order but none of the IP stuff is currently configured.

it's not that hard, the 4 phones came with an upgrade. it was a nortel free demo type thing with i think 10 lic. trouble with the free eq.. it didn't come with free install, so most vendors (like me) didn't spend a bunch of time installing it unless the user wanted to pay above the cost of the upgrade. btw voip works great and will be the norm in a few more years. why install and maintain two wiring schemes when you can do voice just like you do desktop users. i would do the 1st few static and then turn on dhcp after that. with dynamic and a new ip address range, you'll find it eaiser to get the system up and working, after that let the ip people decide which way to go. i usually suggest using cisco routers for dhcp servers and put voice on a separate network and a separate vlan. neither of which is a must

So any suggestions or FAQ's on where to start to roll this thing out?

Any other input, or should I just call my vendor?

if your comfortable with nortel and networking, give it a shot, mostly just go through your otm and fill in the blanks. i've been to the school and could not have put one in without the instruction. but then i'm old

First is your switch keycoded for IP phones in the ISM paramenters? If so you can use the I2004 phone on your switch. Use OTM to program the card and pgm the PBX for the correct info.

Sorry Unkalary,

I need a little enlightenment. what load are these ISM parameters in?

Thanks

Ip sets is not so hard to set up, BUT!!! it could be.
Small things that just can cause enormous problems..

So, if you have an ITG line card, and I2004 phones.
You have to know what release of software you have in your switch and OTM. the ITG line card needs a software compatible with that in your meridian.

If you have rel 25 or 3.0 is a big difference!
If its not copatible it will not work.
In that case, you need new software!

You also need experience of programming of different kind of the meridian and OTM.

I have done this, its not so difficult when you have done it a couple of times, but the first time I spent about a week to get one phone working..
