ok, i have made a great jump/drop down menu - axactly the same as in the lesson "track as menu" in fact, i have even imported the menu structure clip from the lesson into my movie to see if it works.

Both mine and the original work just fine in my movie, however, when i assign a different action to the buttons contained in the drop down menu, they stop working

What i mean by this is that they are fine with a telltarget action that tells them to go to another movie clip, but they refuse to perform the goto and play actions when i want them to link to a different scene in my movie.

Do i need to use the telltarget action to link to another scene? If so, how do i target a scene?

Otherwise, can anyone tell me how to produce a drop menu in the home page, the menu items of which can link to different scenes in the move?

Cheers,

Hi,
I think all you need to do is name your scenes, say start(being home), middle(content1) and end(content2). Then on the btns do the action:

on (release) {
gotoAndPlay ("end", 1);
}

(The 1 being the frame number in the scene.)
Is this what you mean or is this a bit to basic?
As far as the drop down:

Create a dropdown movie which goes down and up comprising of all your btns for the pages. Put it onto the stage and name the instance.
Insert a btn onto the stage and use the telltarget to activate the movie to drop down. Insert variables into the start, middle(down stage of dropdown), and end of the drop down movie so that when you click on the btns they open or close the drop down movie.

Put the go to and play actions in the dropdown movie on the relevant btns. Hope this has helped. If not let me know.
