Running XP Pro SP3 Desktop
All jump drives worked properly before on the desktop
All jump drives work properly on a laptop and have for years as well as on the Desktop
Now only one jump drive works on the desktop.
The other three report USB device not recognized.

I turned off the desktop and remove its power chord, then reattached it and restarted - no effect.
I plugged a USB light into the USB 2.0 drive and it worked so I don't think its a connection issue - if so then no jump drive would work - but one of four does!

Any Thoughts ?

Bob

All jump drives are in working order.
They all work on my Laptop.
So what would you suggest as a next step?

The thread that Goom pointed to, is a good starting point...

other things you could try, would be to use another USB port, or even a USB PCI card...

and sorry, wasn't quite clear if the drives worked or not, must've interpreted what you wrote wrongly... ;)

How to ask a question, when posting them to a professional forum.
Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

Very often the USB ports in front fail because they are loose, dust buildup etc. Try the ones at the back.

More likely the reason for failure is the ones in front are used the most and subject to stress fractures from rocking the flash drives back and forth during put in/take out.
