Helloooo,

My legato 6.2 has detected my Jukebox (compaq MSL5200sl) as a Standard SCSI jukebox. When I put 25 cartdridges it takes 45 min in invetory the cartdriges.

Is it normal?.
Is there any specified driver por this jukebox for legato?.

thx a lot.
Ruben

Are the drivers loaded in the OS? I'm running 6.1.1 and my SSL2020 wasn't recognized correctly until I loaded the NT4.0 drivers. Also, when you inventory, are you using the fast / silent option?

Well, I have three different Jukeboxes ( Overland, HP, Quantum ) and every one of them was detected as a Standard SCSI Jukebox. But it´s mandatory to install current drivers for the drives inside the Jukebox.
Our Overland has 26 Slots and the inventory takes also about 30 to 40 minutes.

It's totally normal, I would say that 99% of jukeboxes are discovered as "Standard SCSI jukeboxes".

It's also normal that the inventory is so long, what you could do to improve the speed is to buy barcodes (if your jukeboxes support them, and then it will only have to scan the label and not to mount the cartbridge into the drive).

The Fast/silent option will not really increase the speed of the inventory, it will only avoid certain messages concerning existing labels.

Hope this helps.

I use a STorage Tech 9710 (560 slots) with barcode labels on each tape. It takes less than a minutes to inventory. If for some reason legato needs to read the tape header than it could take a very long time (hours).

Regards
