'jquery' is undefined error

I am using the following js code to produced a slidemenu. I keep getting an error prompt in IE only. I close the error and it works fine. I have turned off error debugging but still occurs.

Can someone help please. the error is in red below

ensure jquery is loaded first.

the reference in the above script to jquery should be jQuery. javascript is a case sensitive language.
