*.jpg's and *.jpeg all open as if negative's

My collegues and I are currently working on a file for a tender. We need to get some images pasted into Word 2000, but we need to tart them up a little. So we ordered Paint Shop Pro 7 and everry time we open an image it defaults to a look like a negative, however when you change the photo to a negative it appears perfectly. We are now starting to tear hair out. Please Help ASAP.

This isn't the Paint Shop Pro 7 forum but the photoshop forum. I'm sure however if you used photoshop you would have less problems. ;)

Correction then, PHOTOSHOP PRO 7.
Is it a standard configuration setting some where in windows or in PHOTO SHOP PRO 7 ?
