Hello guys!
I have an image...in any of the formats posted in the thread subject...no metter...exported from photoshop....when i put them on the main timeline of the flash movie they are ok...but when i put them inside a movieclip or button they appear distorted...not very much but they don't have the same size..and the image is not clear anymore...where is my mistake?...what flash settings i don't change well?

Regards,
Dragos.

Have you made sure the images have proper coordinates?
I mean I made the experience that images look distorted when they are not correctly positioned. Just like pixel fonts.
Make sure the image in the clip has coordinates containing
no comma values and the clip wich contains the image has to have full digits as coordinates too.
Might be worth a try.
(And make sure that the images as well as the movieclips are not resized)

Can you post a link to a mockup .fla, re-creating the problem?

Right away!
...just arrived at office.

Seems that re-importing the images and setting jpeg quality solved the problem...i can't make it now look distorted...:)

I will post the .fla when this happens again

Thanks!

Dragos.

...forgot to mentio: no resizing in flash...no adjustments at all.

;-)

If you're talking about distortion in some of the characters, it might have to do with the bipmap quality.
Broke it apart and converted your picture to a graphic, as described here: That seemed to solve it.

But may I ask why a text picture rather than the use a pixel font, in a textfield?

It was just an example oldnewbie...i have encountered this problem when using pictures for buttons for example...this was just an example.

Thanks a lot!

...also if you asked...i needed the exact font type as it is in that picture: verdana, regular, 10pt ... and most of all the text had to be rendered exactly like in the html page....flash smooths the texts...maybe a text field with the text formated usinh html tags could solve it?....i will try it.

Cheers!

Dragos.

Regarding the .fla i posted....everything solved out by adding a dynamic text field and adding text to it with actionscript...it renders the text exactly like html does.

But if you don't embed it, you can't be sure everybody will see the exact same font. And to achieve that, the only way is to embed a pixel font which under some further restrictions in formating, will remain sharp and crisp, even if embedded.

As for your general picture distorting problem, you might want to check this also...

Even if verdana is one of the common fonts...you are right...i tried the "shift fix method" but the images are also distorted...

do you know a font that i can use...that looks like verdana, regular, 10pt ?

;-)

Dragos.
