JPG pictures not vaild

I have a win2k professional pc running office 97 when I try and open a jpg file in Microsoft Photo Editor it comes up saying that it is not a vaild file although I can open the same file fine on another pc.

I have tried reinstalling Photo Editor but it still comes up the same


Anyone got any idea's

Try holding down the Shift key and right-click on the file. You should have an Open With option. If you do, choose PHOTOED. If it's not listed click the Other button and navigate to the location of PHOTOED.EXE. It's usually in a location similar to: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\PhotoEd\PHOTOED.EXE"

This might fix the problem. Good luck!

Gerry thanks for that but it still won't open

Further to my previous entry it doesn't come up invalid but unknown file format

sorry about that its just the computer is at work and I was at home

Have you checked to see if the JPG is RGB or CMYK? It does seem that Word et al will not let you insert a CMYK file. Have a look.

The file would appear to be true colour RGB but it still won't open
