For controlling a platform we use an Extreme 3D Pro from Logitech.
It all performs beautifully, if the joystick is connected to a USB 2.0 port.
Roughly 2% of the CPU's resources are in use. Total!
Unfortunately, the PC is located in a rack about 8 meters (25-30 feet) from screen, keyboard, mouse and joystick. The Samsung screen does contain a USB hub.
Long cable and a possible 'booster'(?) along the way makes the port/hub running USB 1.1 only. (could be the hub, but I doubt it)
If connected to this hub, about 90% of CPU resources are used by System, according to TaskManager.
As the joystick is set up to transmit every 25 ms, it really shouldn't use all the resources, even on a slow port.
I have not tried to change the 25 ms setting. Would that help?
XP's internal time tick, I believe, is 10 ms.
Other ideas?
