Hi All,

I have brought in a 2D profile of a 3D drawing from AutoCAD by way of copy and paste. Most of my curves in AutoCAD ended up being splines and they are the same in illustrator. I can't seem to join the splines like I would a normal line that resides in illustrator and I need to put fills in. Is there another technique I can use to fill? Any help is appreciated, and I'm running Illustrator 10 on Win XP

You might try saving the Autocad drawing in DXF format and then using the Ill Place or Open command.

Thanks, I think that may have done the trick. I created a 3d torus in CAD for a test, turned it into a 2d isometric and saved it out as a dxf. I used the place command in illustrator and things were quite a bit more complete. I's say it cut down on individual segments by 90% and it's about as close to perfect as I will get. Thanks again, you probably helped to shave a a few hours off of my illustration time.

you can use the lasso tools to select points and then ctrl+j to join them.
